Happy Tummies, Happy Hearts.
When I first started thinking about Sweet Catastrophe,
I wanted to mix together the idea of creativity and giving. Contributing to the world around us was something I wanted
Sweet Catastrophe to enable myself as well as others to do.
In November of 2007, I traveled to South Africa with TOMS Shoes to help with their annual
shoe drop. That is how I came to know Food4Africa. Gordon, Len, Barbara, Wendy,
Leigh Ann, and Dawn, as well as others from their amazing team are a tangible definition of the human spirit, compassion,
and kindness.
Over
a million pre-school children throughout South Africa do not receive sufficient food. Food4Africa is committed to working
with other organizations to supply children with at least one vitamin and mineral enriched meal every day. Their aim
is to achieve this without large administration structures that erode donor's funds. This meal can help a child
fight disease, increase their brain development, and help them concentrate in school therefore helping them receive a better
education. This meal can give them a chance to overcome poverty.
Food4Africa's hard work, determination, and hope has touched me immensely. Being
able to see where they go and the people they affect made all the statistics we hear and become immune to-- human once again.
That is why it is so important that we are able to continuously support their cause with your help.
At the end of each month, we will take 5% of what we have made
and donate it to Food4Africa.
Through
these cakes I hope you will find happiness in your tummies as well as in your hearts.
